Consultation
Contact me for a free phone consultation to discuss your concerns and needs. If your child is late to talk, people have a difficult time understanding your child, or you have questions about your child’s communication, this is our first step. Additionally, if your child sucks their thumb, or you have questions about myofunctional therapy I can provide information.
Evaluation
In order to better understand your child’s needs, an evaluation may be completed through observational tools, screening measures, and/or formal assessments. Typically, an evaluation will take 60 minutes to complete. Information may be gathered or assessed regarding speech articulation skills (how your child says sounds), the movements of the jaw, tongue and lips, and/or language skills (what your child understands and says). In some cases, chewing, swallowing, social communication, or literacy skills can be additional areas of focus if there are concerns. Information may be gathered through observation, conversation, or play.
Recommendations for next steps will be made based on assessment; a written report can be provided if appropriate and/or requested.
Therapy
When therapy is recommended, speech-language therapy services can begin and will focus on your child’s area(s) of identified need. I offer 30-minute, 45-minute and one-hour therapy sessions, depending on the needs of the child. Some children receive therapy once weekly and others are seen 2-3 times weekly. I specialize in providing therapy for speech sound development, myofunctional disorders, and other communication skills (language, social communication, literacy).
